Spending time in a server room @ 64-degrees. Not bad when the heat index is expected to be 100+!

Data Center Overload
The New York Times Magazine has a great article that details the “behind the scenes” word of the data centers that make our online world possible. Data Center Overload starts out with a question I’ve asked myself lately… How are all of these online games possible?
It used to be next to impossible to play a computer game with once person on the other end of the modem, let alone hundreds!
It’s a pretty long article, but definately worth the read!
Feeling overwhelmed? Maybe you need to ditch the gadgets!
The folks at Lifehack always have thought provoking articles. This one struck a particular note with me. The times I’ve actually went without the gadgets were far more relaxing than wit them.
Unfortunately the blinky/beepy things put food on the table, so I can definately see myself taking some of the suggestions in the article to heart… on the weekend!

X-Box is home!
UPS brought the ‘replaced’ unit today along with a card giving me a free month of X-Box Live.
We’ve already fired up Nexflix & everything is working great. Hopefully I’ll get some COD time when the kids go to bed.
X-Box is on its way home!
After experiencing a Red Ring of Death MS has finished the repairs and shipped the little white console of joy back! Scheduled delivery; tomorrow. Scheduled Call of Duty game; tomorrow night!
Lenovo IdeaPad S10
Cashed in some points a while ago and picked up a new Lenovo IdeaPad S10. Great little NetBook with a LOT of features!
Still trying to figure out how I want to set it up but I think it’s definitely going to be used as a portable media machine (movies, etc).
If you’re in the market for a NetBook I would definately check this on out. Here’s a link to a very through review at www.notebookreview.com.
Red Ring of Death!
My New (refurb) X-Box 360 decided to die on me the other night. Right before a 3-day weekend!!
At least the error I was getting is covered by Microsoft & they will repair it for FREE! I filled out the form & a shipping box was on my door in 2 days. Now we’ll just have to wait & see how long it takes for me to get it back!
