Easter in Washington DC
I spent Easter weekend in Washington DC visiting my brother in the Capitol Hill neighborhood and taking in the sights. I REALLY enjoyed the Newseum and the Spy Museum. These are two of the museums in DC that are NOT free. Just about every other museum is though. I also had the opportunity to take part in Easter Services at the National Cathedral. Pictures are located at the end of this post.
On the way out I mounted the iPod Touch to the windshield and shot some time-lapse videos of the 9-hour journey. I really wanted to get a time-lapse of me driving inbound on the George Washington Memorial Parkway but a low battery prevented me from doing so.
While in DC I attended my first professional soccer match (DC United). This was not just any introduction, I was invited to sit with the Barra Brava Fan Club. The pre-game tailgating was fun but the game itself was crazy! Non-stop chanting, taunting, and jumping. There was also the occasional unexpected beer shower. The game ended in a 0-0 tie so I didn’t get to see the Barra Brava club perform their famous Goooooooal celebration.
Capitol Hill has a neighborhood market with all kinds of meat, seafood and produce and hosts an incredible outdoor market on both Saturday and Sunday. Parking was surprisingly easy to find as well. It helped that my brother secured a visitor pass that let me park anywhere in Zone 6 for free.
All in all it was a great trip and I’m already thinking about going out there again soon. Forget the politics, DC has a lot of cultural and historic significance as well as enough museums to keep you occupied for weeks!

Spring is Here!
Went out last weekend looking for signs of spring. I was able to find some good indications that spring has definitely sprung, enjoy!
