Morse Code: How to Translate and Use it

The Art of Manliness had a neat article about a dying language; Morse Code.  Several years ago the language of Morse code started to be phased out in the maritime and aeronautical industries.  I’m happy to say it’s live and well in the Amateur radio hobby, but for how long?  With the influence of the Internet and Generation y/y/z, how long can it really survive?

Old Gender Roles With Your Dinner?

The New York Times had an interesting article about how men and women are percived and treated at various eating establishments. While I think it’s still common to seat women first & perhaps serve them first as well, some of the “old school” details were very odd…  Seating women along the wall so they can see the room?  never heard of that one!

A Web-Based Air Traffic Control Simulator

ATC-SIM is a web-based air traffic control (ATC) simulator.  it’s all but impossible to play unless you’re a die-hard flight-sim fan or an existing ATC controller looking to improve their skills (let’s hope you really don’t need this!).

You can select the airport, wind & realism levels to suit your fancy.  Let’s just say you don’t want me in the control tower (real or otherwise).

If you’re more interested in real flight tracking be sure to check out Track Flight Status.
