My Favorite RSS Feeds
I’m an information junkie. I’ve found the best way for me to keep up with all of my interests is to utilize RSS feeds.
I’m currently using Google Reader to manage 106 feeds ranging from current events to entertainment and food to computers. Of course I also have a ton of GTD feeds I follow. I like using a hosted RSS reader as it allows me to access my feeds from any PC (or PDA) & it keeps all of my feeds in sync.
Here are some of my top RSS picks:
- Cool Tools
- Creed Thoughts
- Waiter Rant
- Anthony Bourdain’s Blog
- New York Times – Dining & Wine
- David Allen Company Updates
- Outlook Tips
Hope you find something interesting in the list above. What are some of your favorite feeds? Post your list in the comment section.
Mobile Blogging Rocks!
Posted from Treo. Just added a plug in that allows me to write blog entries from my mobile phone. Had to ditch the cool theme I was using as it’s not compatible with several of the newer functions found in WordPress 2.5. Time to look for a new theme (suggestions welcome).
Why Are We so Against Nuclear Power?
The March issue of GQ had a really intriguing article titled “Meltdown” that raises a lot of questions regarding the use of Nuclear power in the United States. Interesting takeaway: The Nuclear “waste” we’re so worried about disposing of contains Plutonium that we could be using to power the plants! It’s being recycled in other countries with great success…
Favorite Podcasts
It’s been a while since I’ve posted (been traveling a lot)… I thought I’d share some information about the Podcasts I listen to while on the road.
Right now I’m subscribed to 36 podcasts. Some are updated daily, some weekly and some haven’t had an update in quite a while. I’m using iTunes to manage my library & it works really well for the most part. I’m still looking for a way to auto-sync my iPod at 0700 every morning. This would keep me from having to hit the sync button and wait every time… If you know if a script that will do this, please share!
I have several smart playlists setup in iTunes and my “Commute” playlist gets listened to daily. It contains the following Podcasts:
- NYTimes Front Page
- NPR 7AM News Update
- ABC Money Minute
- Slashdot Review
- CBS Radio World News Roundup
- Slate Explainer Podcast
- BBC Newspod
- Mr. Manners
- Get It Done Guy
- The Laporte Report
I’ve also located some great House Music Podcasts. I can’t dance (AT ALL), but I sure do like the music! Some of my favorite DJ’s are:
Hope you’re able to find some new things to listen to from the links posted above. Time to light the grill, it’s steak night!
Potato Chip Cookies?
Yes, there is such a thing & I’m making them this afternoon.
Going to take them into work for the gang to try out.
Wish me luck!
You Had Me at Hello…
OK, so the guys at work have found my blog… Welcome you bunch of misfits! This blog is one of those things if been wanting to do but never took the time to do it…
It’s been kind of slow going since I started a few months ago, but if I’m going to have an audience, I should probably start posting on a more regular basis.
I have a lot of interest ranging from food to photography to computers. This blog was originally going to be a journal of my activities, then I thought about focusing on food reviews… Screw it… It’s just going to be (as the sub-title suggests) random thoughts and observations about things as I see them.
Welcome to my little piece of cyber-space. I hope you enjoy your visit!
The Creekside Lodge – Crawfordsville, Indiana
Hidden among the trees on Lafayette Avenue the The Creekside Lodge (Restaurant & Lounge) is a great find in a town with only a few options for a decent lunch (more reviews on the good Crawfordsville spots in future blog posts). I’ve dined here before but I was not writing a Blog yet so I’m going to treat this as a “first visit” report.
Open for just under 2 years, the Creekside Lodge is housed in what was once the Clements Canoe Outdoor Center along Sugar Creek in Crawfordsville, Indiana. I arrived at 11:30 am to find only a few cars in the parking lot. This place can get busy around noon in the summer months (my last visit to this place).
I was seated immediately in a spacious booth overlooking the covered patio and ordered up an Iced tea ($1.75). After a quick glance at the Lunch Menu, I decided on a traditional BLT with chips ($4.95) A BLT was something I was planning on fixing myself this past weekend but never got around to it.
The Lunch Menu offers quite a variety. Some highlights:
- Spinach Artichoke Dip appetizer ($6.95)
- Various Pizzas ($6.75 to $10.50)
- Pork Tenderloin (Traditional Indiana food!) ($5.95)
- Olive Burger (Burger with Green Olive Sauce) ($7.49)
- Several Salad choices ($2.00 to $7.50)
Once my BLT arrived I was pleased with the amount of B and T! The bread was toasted nicely and the lettuce was fresh (not always easy to find in November). The accompanying chips were the “Ridged” variety and nicely salted. I’m usually a big eater at lunch but I’ll have to say this amount of food was just about right today.
Total bill for this visit was $8.60 ($7.10 + $1.50 Tip).
The Creekside Lodge offers carry-out and the lounge is open until Midnight Monday-Saturday. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled when you go there for the first time. It’s an easy place to miss!
As I travel throughout Indiana on business I plan on writing about the lunch stops along my way. If you have a favorite lunch place, be sure to email me and I’ll see if I can add it to my itinerary.
